Christian Aid - Harvest & Climate Justice See: Christian Aid Thu 23rd Sep
Harvest falls at a crucial time for climate justice. The UK is already gearing up to host the crucial UN climate talks, COP26, in Glasgow. We, therefore, have a unique opportunity to call for climate justice. Every moment matters, and this Harvest we need to rise to the moment. Now is the time for prayer and action. That’s why Christian Aid are joining the Young Christian Climate Network’s relay to Cop 26. Young Christian Aid supporters are walking the length of the country to COP26. Members of the Young Christian Climate Network have been walking since the close of the G7 in Cornwall in June. They will finish up in Glasgow in November. As they walk, the young people carry a small boat, a reminder that 10% of the world’s population live on land less than 5 metres above the high tide line. Coastal communities are especially vulnerable to extreme flooding. Scottish members of Christian Aid will join the relay when it crosses the border. The walkers will pass through Eyemouth, Dunbar, Edinburgh, Livingston and Motherwell. The organisers of the relay are determined to rise to the moment. In years to come, they want the Church to know they did their utmost to prevent unjust decisions being made on our doorstep. Christian Aid ask for our prayers at this crucial time for the world.
